South Yorkshire Transport | News // First South Yorkshire strike called off!

The proposed one day strike on First South Yorkshire bus services in South Yorkshire on Saturday 8th August has today been called off by Unite the Union. Bus services will therefore run as normal this Saturday. No further days of strike action have been advised as yet from both First South Yorkshire and Unite.

Bob Hamilton, MD of First South Yorkshire said, "I welcome the decision by Unite the Union to call off the strike action.

"I am sure all our customers will be pleased that they will be able to use our services as normal this Saturday.

"This is a positive step forward to resolving the dispute and I look forward to re-commencing discussions with Unite and working together to reach a sensible agreement at the earliest opportunity"

Further strikes have not been ruled out at this time by Unite, though there are no further strikes planned in the near future. Unite need to give an advanced warning of 7 days ahead of a planned strike.
